Birthday Mai Tai

It's my birthday, and what do I really wanna do??
Enjoy a great Mai Tai.
But I am also a mom of 2, so staying home and making my own, not on my birthday wish list.

So I researched where I could find the best Mai Tai in the Seattle area.

A few blogs I came across said I had to try the Mai Tai at a place called "Luau Polynesian Lounge".
To my dismay, it was closed. And I had tried the Mai Tai's at most other places listed.

So in a effort to keep things simple on this last minute birthday celebration I decided to invite some friends to join me and my family at The Rock in Mill Creek for a BUCKET. My birthday version of a Mai Tai.

For those of you that have not ventured to the Rock, or have and not indulged in a Bucket.
It is a must do at least once, in my opinion. And once you try it, you'll be back, I promise!

Who wouldn't love drinking out of a beach bucket, with a plastic shovel in it????
Come on, that's classy!!!

The menu reads- "The Bucket : The Rock’s original blend of 5 premium Rums served in a freakin’ bucket!"

Due to the blend of rums, and fruit juice I assume from taste that are in the bucket, I call this my birthday Mai Tai this year.

The bucket is icy cold, slighty fruity, and very RUMY and goes down a little too easy, but packs a PUNCH!!! There is a limit of 2 buckets per person at the restaurant. And for good reason.

So as far as a Mai Tai goes, not the usual, but this drink gets 10 points for a fun birthday drink. And you get to take home a beach toy, how fun is that?? Explains why my daughter has...well...lets say a few...of these buckets to play with, hehehe.

not a great picture, but this was bucket #1.

On this my birthday night I decided to try one of there variations on the original bucket. I asked the waitress which she recommends, she said they had a new bucket that just made the menu that day, my birthday, it was meant to be!!

So I ordered a "bucket slammer" - a margarita style bucket, with a baby corona dropped in it. It was a sight to see. Now this bucket also went down pretty damn easy, but I do believe that was aided by the consumption of bucket # 1.

check out the mini corona dropped in.

This year everyone gave me their buckets and we made plans to have a "bucket party" soon. Sounds like fun huh.

Two buckets down, and feeling fine. Ok I lie, I didn't feel fine at all!!! I came home and had to lay down, please tell me this is due to not drinking hard alcohol for almost a year, and not because of my new "age". Took a couple hours for the headache to wear off, luckily my wonderful husband took over baby duty till I was feeling better.

All in all, another great night at The Rock in Mill Creek.
If you are ever looking for a fun place to eat, and have a few fun drinks at, try them out!!!

Until my next Mai Tai adventure, AAALLLLOOOHHHHAAAAAA.

Birthday Blog

Today is my birthday. A birthday that nearly came and went without much notice. Is that what happens the older you get? Life gets so busy that things like your birthday kinda just get swallowed up with the day to day grind of family, kids, etc etc.

Used to be that my birthday was pre-empted by a reminder to anyone that would listen.
One month till my birthday...
2 weeks till my birthday....
guess what next week is???
and so on and so forth.

This year I had to be reminded multiple times by my husband. When he asked me if I wanted to do someone on the weekend, or on tuesday, I had to ask him what he was talking about. Ummm your birthday!! OH! Yea...its my birthday!!!

With that said, my birthday was a good day considering that both kids are getting over colds, and my ears are still plugged from our flight home last week and double ear infections. The girls and I hung out in bed most the day, playing and watching cartoons. When the hubby came home he promptly took the girls downstairs so I could have some alone time for a couple hours before we left for dinner. In a perfect world I would have spent those 2 hours fast asleep. But as anyone with kids knows, the days of falling asleep at the drop of a dime are long gone. Regardless, 2 hours of guaranteed no interruptions by the toddler or 3 month old is priceless, a perfect birthday present.

I actually spend the last 30 minutes in the shower. A 30 minute shower, some would say stupid. But in mommy world, that is like hitting the jackpot. There are lots of things a woman can get done in a shower, that do not happen when you have 2 kids waiting for you to get out. Body parts got shaved, a conditioning treatment, facial scrub, foot scrub, and the ever important just standing under the hot water...eyes closed....just....being. All those things that make you feel like a million bucks when you get out.

Going out with friends and family to a low key but fun dinner was just what I needed this year. Nothing too crazy, just some laughs with good people. I did par-take in a little too much alcohol, which isn't saying much as I have been pregnant and breastfeeding for the past year so I have become somewhat of a light weight!!!

So what are my expectations for the year to come. So many birthdays I make promises to myself, and declare how this year "is my bitch" or how I am going to take this year by the balls.

Very rarely do I accomplish all the fantastic goals I set for myself on my birthday, a lesson that having kids has taught me, take one day at a time!!!

So this year, my 31st year my plan is to do just that, and see what happens. Could be my best year yet, or I could just make it to my 32nd year by the skin of my teeth. (what a weird saying)

I plan to wake up each day, put one foot in front of the other and take that day as it comes, trying to make it a great day as best as I can. I plan on having some great days, but I am sure there will be many not so great days. And that's ok, its those days that make the great days all that more GREAT.

So off I go on my 31st year adventure!!! Wish me luck!!!

Aloha
