Enjoy a great Mai Tai.
But I am also a mom of 2, so staying home and making my own, not on my birthday wish list.
So I researched where I could find the best Mai Tai in the Seattle area.
A few blogs I came across said I had to try the Mai Tai at a place called "Luau Polynesian Lounge".
To my dismay, it was closed. And I had tried the Mai Tai's at most other places listed.
So in a effort to keep things simple on this last minute birthday celebration I decided to invite some friends to join me and my family at The Rock in Mill Creek for a BUCKET. My birthday version of a Mai Tai.
For those of you that have not ventured to the Rock, or have and not indulged in a Bucket.
It is a must do at least once, in my opinion. And once you try it, you'll be back, I promise!
Who wouldn't love drinking out of a beach bucket, with a plastic shovel in it????
Come on, that's classy!!!
The menu reads- "The Bucket : The Rock’s original blend of 5 premium Rums served in a freakin’ bucket!"
Due to the blend of rums, and fruit juice I assume from taste that are in the bucket, I call this my birthday Mai Tai this year.
The bucket is icy cold, slighty fruity, and very RUMY and goes down a little too easy, but packs a PUNCH!!! There is a limit of 2 buckets per person at the restaurant. And for good reason.
So as far as a Mai Tai goes, not the usual, but this drink gets 10 points for a fun birthday drink. And you get to take home a beach toy, how fun is that?? Explains why my daughter has...well...lets say a few...of these buckets to play with, hehehe.
not a great picture, but this was bucket #1.
On this my birthday night I decided to try one of there variations on the original bucket. I asked the waitress which she recommends, she said they had a new bucket that just made the menu that day, my birthday, it was meant to be!!
So I ordered a "bucket slammer" - a margarita style bucket, with a baby corona dropped in it. It was a sight to see. Now this bucket also went down pretty damn easy, but I do believe that was aided by the consumption of bucket # 1.
check out the mini corona dropped in.
This year everyone gave me their buckets and we made plans to have a "bucket party" soon. Sounds like fun huh.
Two buckets down, and feeling fine. Ok I lie, I didn't feel fine at all!!! I came home and had to lay down, please tell me this is due to not drinking hard alcohol for almost a year, and not because of my new "age". Took a couple hours for the headache to wear off, luckily my wonderful husband took over baby duty till I was feeling better.
All in all, another great night at The Rock in Mill Creek.
If you are ever looking for a fun place to eat, and have a few fun drinks at, try them out!!!
Until my next Mai Tai adventure, AAALLLLOOOHHHHAAAAAA.
